What is the use of a lubricant? Our sex tips

What is a lubricating gel used for?

Intimate lubricant is a very useful gel for sexual relations. It makes intercourse smoother and more pleasant.

In fact, intimate gel improves the health and comfort of sexual relations, increasing sensations tenfold and avoiding painful friction on the most sensitive areas of our bodies.

While lubricants are often used when natural vaginal lubrication is lack ing for penetration, they can also be used for masturbation, massage or anal intercourse.

Why choose a lubricant? There are many reasons to use a lubricant, and we'll cover them all in this article:

  • vaginal dryness
  • when changing pills
  • menopause
  • after childbirth
  • masturbation
  • orgasm
  • when you have a large penis
  • for anal intercourse
  • to make the condom solid

Most common use: anal sex

  • Lubricant: necessary during anal intercourse

Unlike the vagina during penis-vagina penetration, the anus doesn't produce any natural lubricant, so it's much more common for pain and injury to occur during penetration of either the penetrator or the anus.

Anal sex is becoming increasingly common, especially among male homosexual couples, as it provides a different kind of pleasure from normal penetration.

The anus has a number of nerve endings, which are a source of pleasure in the same way as human genitalia.

The use of a lubricant during this practice is therefore highly recommended to prevent inflations and other injuries that could cause problems in the long term.

Penetration during vaginal dryness is just as dangerous, as damage to the mucous membranes during intercourse could facilitate the transmission of disease and the onset of injury, so the use of lubricants during intercourse is also advisable.

Little-known use case: masturbation (and not just for women)

  • Intimate gel: for successful masturbation and more intense arousal

A little-known case of lubricant use: masturbation, for both men and women. When it comes to female pleasure, lubricant is highly recommended.

In fact, it's an important asset for orgasm, for more intense sensations and smoother comings and goings.

According to sexologists, it also amplifies the effect on the clitoris.

For men, intimate lubricants reduce friction, which in turn facilitates movement and leaves room for a multitude of techniques for pleasuring and pleasuring oneself.

When masturbating, massaging with a finger, hand and/or sextoy, using lubricant enables smoother intercourse and more intense sensations.

In fact, lubricant creates a film that "protects" the clitoris, anus and penis, so that coming and going is smoother and more pleasurable, all the more so when the brake is a little short or the clitoris is very sensitive.

Numerous testimonials from lubricant users tell us that it provides better sensations for male or female masturbation, and less discomfort.

Health benefits: menopause, pill changes, etc.

  • For health and pain relief

The best-known case is to remedy intimate dryness. Factors such as menopause, pill changes, partner changes, stress, alcohol consumption and certain illnesses can all impair effective natural lubrication.

That's why, in some cases, the application of a natural lubricant can help improve penetration during intercourse, making it smoother and less painful.

At menopause, estrogen levels drop and the lubrication mechanism may diminish, creating vaginal dryness.

After pregnancy, many women suffer from intimate dryness for a period of 2-3 months.

In fact, breastfeeding and childbirth cause a hormonal imbalance following the drop in estrogen.

During this period, the return of libido can be jeopardized if pain during sex persists. It's important not to force yourself, and to use a lubricant for more pleasurable intercourse.

The uterine mucosa becomes thinner and more sensitive, and therefore needs to be well lubricated during intercourse, especially with a silicone-free intimate lubricant.

  • Large penises: the benefits of silicone-free lubricants

Having a large penis isn't always a pleasure:) Penetration can be complicated and require a lot (a lot) of preparation. In these cases, lubricants play an essential role in preventing injury during the sexual act and keeping it a pleasure :)

If you feel that sex isn't entering the vagina naturally, apply lubricant to the vaginal entrance and the penis to make it easier.

  • Making condoms stronger and more comfortable

Too little used on the outside of the condom, lubricant makes condoms more solid andprevents the transmission of STDs and unwanted pregnancies. Condoms are lubricated in advance to make them easier to unfold, but most of the time this isn't enough.

"Infact, sexual intercourse with a condom multiplies friction by around 3. But even normal female lubrication never increases to such an extent," says Dr Catherine Solano.

For greater comfort and less painful friction, lubricant should be systematically added to the outside of the condom.

Adding lubricant to the outside of the condom would also make it more pleasant for both partners.

  • A little-known use case: delaying premature ejaculation

If lubricants are generally thought to be more useful for women, this would be forgetting their usefulness in combating premature ejaculation.

Premature ejaculation is often linked to hypersensitivity. Using a lubricant helps create softer, less intense friction, delaying ejaculation.

Of course, this is not a solution for all men suffering from premature ejaculation.
